More contentious has been another bill, proposed on November 3rd, which would allow police to detain suspects for 14 days withoutcharge and fit them with tracking devices for a year.
The justice secretary explained the bill would enshrine the right to legal advice before questioning in stature, increase the time for detention withoutcharge from six hours to 12 hours and up to 24 hrs in the most serious circumstances with appropriate safeguards.
